A Visit from Renewed Reflections

Today we had the honor of having Renewed Reflections visit us as our guest speaker.  She came to discuss self-esteem, relationship, boundary issues, and more.  Mostly she focused on issues that impact moms, which is most pertinent to our group. 

One of the most eye opening parts of the meeting was when she asked one of our members to come up to the front for a demonstration.  She then asked the group to start naming "roles" that we play as moms.  And for each role listed, our mommy volunteer was given a ball to hold.

Well, it did not take long for us to start rattling off "cook, driver, nurse, teacher, maid, etc." Pretty soon, she was overwhelmed and balls were dropping all over the place!

But you know what? That was the whole point! As moms we can not let ourselves think that we can do it all, or else we will end up dropping one of those balls. It would be really awesome to be supermom but the reality is that it just can't happen all the time!

Steering Makes Our Laundry Detergent

Oh, steering! If you have ever been on a steering team for a MOPs group then you know that a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to make each and every meeting happen. Well, we decided that we were going to give ourselves a little "treat" and let one of our steering members teach us how to make our own detergent! We used the Duggar Family's Recipe.

 We decided to use the kitchen at church because we could make our detergent in really large batches this way! What a great time of fun and fellowship. Plus we were learning how to save money.

 

 

And we had the most adorable audience!

 

 

Making Cake Carriers - February 6, 2012

 

In case you haven't noticed, we love doing crafts during our MOPs time that allow us to be able to work and chat!  One day at a steering meeting we started talking about the cute cake carriers that you see everybody with these days. Well, we decided to make some!

 

 

 

 

Some moms brought their own cake carriers, but we some available for our members.  One of Craft Leaders cut out all the dots and we had extra vinyl for people to use for monograms.  They turned out so cute!
